Roles and Responsibilities

As the Head of Research and Development, your primary mandate is to orchestrate the strategic direction, roadmap, and operational activities pertaining to polymer compounding, processing, and material characterization. This entails devising resource plans encompassing budgetary allocations and manpower distributions to propel the growth of our polymer business in key markets while concurrently enriching our product portfolio with high-value offerings. Key responsibilities include:

  • Steering the Application Development Center’s capabilities, encompassing product engineering design, simulation, polymer processing technology, and product prototyping.
  • Spearheading the development of novel methodologies for material performance and application testing, augmenting our competitive edge.
  • Cultivating expertise within the team in compounding, polymer processing, and material characterization to align with our business expansion goals.
  • Ensuring operational excellence in compounding, polymer processing, product design, and prototyping, adhering to robust governance and sustainability standards.
  • Providing technical insights to support the formulation of Strategic Market Plans (SMP), New Application and Product Development (NAPD), and Rapid Market Assessments (RMA), collaborating closely with the business team.
  • Engaging with customers as necessitated by the marketing team, fostering strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the petrochemical or polymer processing sector, particularly within the plastic packaging industry.
  • Proficiency in polymer processing techniques such as plastic injection, film blowing, and rotomolding.
  • Familiarity with plastic product design and mold design is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in conducting application tests.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities, with a track record of driving transformative change.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency in English, enabling seamless communication in an international environment.
