Senior Mechanical Engineer-Data Center

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering activities throughout the full project cycle, from design and construction to testing and commissioning.
  • Provide technical solutions to engineering challenges while ensuring designs meet applicable codes, safety standards, and project requirements.
  • Oversee project progress, identify and resolve technical issues, and keep teams and stakeholders informed.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure technical compliance and alignment with project objectives.
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients, authorities, and project partners by addressing technical concerns and providing expert guidance.
  • Prepare technical reports, project updates, and documentation required for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and external partners to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Develop detailed mechanical designs and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems.
  • Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems into building designs.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
  • Oversee installation and construction of mechanical systems to ensure alignment with approved plans and quality standards.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, troubleshoot technical issues, and verify quality of work.
  • Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to manage schedules and resolve conflicts.
  • Lead system testing to ensure proper functionality, performance, and safety of mechanical systems.
  • Support commissioning activities and coordinate with testing agencies and stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during testing and commissioning to ensure system readiness.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including design changes, approvals, and construction activities.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documents for project teams and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with project and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 8 to 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering project management, preferably involving Data Center projects, chilled water systems, or air-cooled chiller plants.
  • Strong technical background in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Proven experience delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Holding a Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of DC technologies, chiller plant operations, infrastructure projects, QA/QC processes, and EHS practices is preferred.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD or Revit; familiarity with BIM tools is an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical codes, safety standards (ASHRAE, NFPA), and industry practices.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with project commissioning and testing processes.
  • Understanding of prefabrication, long-lead equipment management, and DC project lifecycles.
  • Experience with project management tools like MS Project or Primavera is beneficial.
  • Experience with RFP processes, tender management, and contract negotiations is a plus.
  • Familiar with construction industry standards, regulations, and permitting processes.
